How to Unlock Bootloader On Xiaomi Phones

This is a guide on unlocking Xiaomi phone’s bootloader. Unlocking bootloader is pretty easy but Xiaomi gives a waiting period before you can unlock the bootloader.
Steps
- Go to Settings -> About phone -> Tap 7 times on MIUI Version
- Go to Additional Settings -> Developer Options -> Mi Unlock Status -> Add account and device (Tap & Add your Mi Account)
- Wait 7 days
- Download Mi Flash Unlock Tool (Extract it)
- Go to Settings -> Additional Settings -> Developer Options -> 1. Enable OEM Unlocking 2. Enable USB Debugging
- Boot into the fastboot mode
- Open Mi Flash Unlock Tool
- Select “Agree” -> Sign with your Mi Account (Signed in your phone)
- Plug device into the computer
- Press “Unlock” (The tool is going to present you two warning pop-ups)
- Press “Unlock anyway” on the pop-ups
- Now press “Reboot” (If the tool shows “Unlocked successfully”, your device will be rebooted automatically. if not then press the button)
Key Combinations
- Fastboot mode — Volume down + Power Button (Power off first)
- Exit Fastboot mode — Press & hold Power Button (Few seconds)
Notes
- Unlocking bootloader erases your phone. So, Backup your data first.
- Adding Mi account requires Cellular data.
- Don’t remove Mi Account or Factory reset your phone during the waiting period.
- If the computer doesn’t recognize your phone install Mi USB driver.
- Sometimes the tool can show you this message “Please unlock 720/360/168/72 hours later”. Wait for the necessary time & then try to unlock.
